Frequently Asked Questions

Do you groom in my home?

Yes. I bring the essential grooming equipment and groom your dog in the comfort of your home. Many dogs feel calmer in their own environment, and it avoids the stress of travelling to a salon.

Which dogs do you groom?

I currently focus on small to medium sized dogs. At the moment I’m not able to groom very large dogs, as most homes do not provide the space needed for safe in-home grooming.

How long does a session take?

Every dog is different, but most grooms take around 1–2 hours depending on coat type, size, and the services needed. I always work at the dog’s pace to keep the experience calm and positive.

What services do you offer?

Services include:

•    Bath and dry
•    Brushing and de-shedding
•    Haircut or trim
•    Nail clipping
•    Ear cleaning
•    Face, paw and hygiene trims

Exact services depend on your dog’s coat and needs.

What do I need to prepare before the appointment?

Please make sure:

•    There is a clear space large enough for a grooming table and room for me to move around it safely
•    There is access to a bath or shower and a plug socket so I can use the dryer
•    Your dog has had a toilet break before we start
•    Children and additional pets are safely kept away during the groom.
•    Your dog has not eaten a large meal right before grooming

A kitchen, bathroom, utility, hallway or living room area usually works well.

Do I need to stay during the groom?

Yes, the owner must be at home during the appointment. You don’t need to stay in the room unless your dog prefers it.

What if my dog is nervous?

That’s completely okay. Many dogs feel more relaxed being groomed at home. I take a calm, patient approach, allowing breaks if needed and never rushing the dog.

What if my dog is very matted?

If a coat is heavily matted, the kindest and safest option for the dog is often to clip the coat shorter rather than attempt painful de-matting. I will always discuss this with you before starting.

Do you express anal glands?

No, I do not provide anal gland expression. This is best carried out by a veterinarian or veterinary nurse if needed.

Do you clean up after the groom?

Yes. I always tidy and clean the grooming area after the appointment and aim to leave your home as clean as I found it.

How often should my dog be groomed?

This depends on the breed and coat type. Most dogs benefit from grooming every 4–8 weeks to keep their coat healthy and comfortable.

What if my dog cannot be safely groomed?

Your dog’s welfare and safety always come first. If a dog becomes extremely stressed, fearful, or unsafe to handle, I may need to pause or stop the groom. In some cases the session may need to be rescheduled, or a veterinary groomer may be more suitable.
